Diversified Automation, Inc. seeks a Hardware Design Engineer to focus on electrical controls hardware for the material handling industry. In this role, the selected professional will engineer motor control panels and related systems tailored for baggage handling, parcel and freight operations, manufacturing environments, and warehouse distribution centers. This position suits an engineer who enjoys collaborating with project managers, sales teams, and clients to translate project parameters into comprehensive engineering plans. The company builds control solutions that regulate complex conveyor networks and related machinery. Responsibilities span the entire project lifecycle, from initial power feed calculations and schematic drafting to final panel commissioning and inspection. Professionals in this position utilize computer-assisted engineering software to create complete drawing packages, draft purchasing specifications for equipment, and ensure all constructed panels meet required standards and codes. Candidates must bring a strong work ethic, effective communication abilities, active listening skills, and sound engineering judgment to diagnose operational challenges and evaluate alternative technical approaches.
Responsibilities
- Consult with sales engineers, project managers, and clients to review project scope and design specifications
- Produce detailed drawing packages including power feed calculations, 480V power schematics, 120V control schematics, and I/O drawings
- Design field device layouts, PLC configurations, and motor control panel layouts
- Create purchasing specifications for necessary materials and equipment
- Utilize computer-assisted engineering software to execute technical tasks
- Audit, inspect, and test finished motor control panels for structural integrity and standard compliance
- Perform panel commissioning and checkout
Requirements
- Ability to operate computer-assisted engineering and design software
- Proficiency in generating power feed calculations, power schematics, control schematics, and layout drawings
- Strong foundation in troubleshooting, critical thinking, active listening, and complex problem solving
