Job Description
Turing is seeking a Head of Engineering for Enterprise AI to direct the technical team responsible for the Turing Enterprise AI Platform. Headquartered in San Francisco and operating on-site in New York, Turing connects frontier artificial intelligence research with practical enterprise deployment by creating specialized datasets, reinforcement learning environments, and benchmarks, while also developing end-to-end agentic artificial intelligence systems for Fortune 500 corporations. In this full-time role, the engineering leader will guide a growing platform unit through critical milestones, including the hardening phase for initial tenants, control plane distribution, and the creation of a model-agnostic, multi-tenant ecosystem featuring robust security, observability, and governance.
This position suits an experienced technical director who combines deep hands-on expertise in large language model systems with a strong background in regulated enterprise software architecture and team scaling. The individual will coordinate closely with the President and Chief AI Architect to execute product milestones, maintain rigorous hiring standards, and deliver deployable solutions across client cloud setups and sovereign environments.
Responsibilities
- Publish the hardening backlog with clear exit criteria and ensure four Q4 engineers are hired or in the offer stage within the first 90 days
- Release the control plane as a no-fee trial to initial tenants with onboarding completed in under four weeks during Q1 2027
- Deliver a model-agnostic, multi-tenant control plane equipped with an agent builder, model gateway, evaluations, FinOps, observability, guardrails, role-based access control, and connectors that can be deployed in client cloud and sovereign environments
- Secure at least one client use case supported by a measured evaluation and a trained model that outperforms frontier baselines
- Participate in weekly roadmap reviews with the President and Chief AI Architect while coordinating with engagement leads
Requirements
- Over 15 years of professional software engineering experience
- At least 5 years leading platform or infrastructure teams that successfully delivered multi-tenant enterprise software
- Demonstrated expertise in platform architecture for multi-tenant enterprise applications and self-hosted deployments
- Direct, hands-on involvement with large language model systems encompassing orchestration, evaluation, serving, and fine-tuning
- Personal production coding experience within the last two years
- Proven background in scaling a platform from an internal tool into an externally licensed product
- Demonstrated ability to recruit quickly at a high standard and manage a team ranging from 8 to 15 individuals
- Extensive background in enterprise security, identity, and hosting with regulated clients, including experience operating under a bank or regulator security review
Qualifications
- Experience building or scaling a platform within a services or forward-deployed organization
- Background in financial services
