Eurofins is seeking an Interface Engineer to join its network. Eurofins Scientific is a global life sciences organization operating a decentralized network of laboratories across more than fifty countries, offering analytical testing for food, environment, pharmaceuticals, genomics, and clinical diagnostics.
In this full-time, on-site position, the Interface Engineer will design, build, and maintain software solutions that link clinical laboratories with hospital information systems, electronic health records, and medical practice platforms. The role is well-suited for a technical professional with extensive background in healthcare IT and interface engine technology who can ensure secure and seamless data exchanges between complex medical systems.
Key duties involve architecting up to four concurrent interface projects, meeting project delivery timelines, resolving support tickets, collaborating with external vendors and clinical staff, and writing clean, flawless integration code. The successful candidate will handle data mapping, testing, quality assurance, system performance optimization, and compliance with healthcare security rules such as HIPAA.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain software interfaces connecting hospital systems and electronic health records with laboratory information management systems
- Manage three to four concurrent interface projects with an annual output of ten to fifteen projects
- Partner with clinical lab staff, hospital IT personnel, and third-party vendors to gather requirements and establish technical specifications
- Deploy standard data protocols and formats including HL7, JSON, and XML
- Troubleshoot interface problems to secure accurate and timely data flow
- Perform testing and quality assurance checks to validate data integrity and consistency
- Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and patient data security guidelines
- Communicate project progress and issues to stakeholders via meetings, written documents, and emails
Requirements
- Three to five years of hands-on experience designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining interfaces utilizing the Corepoint Interface Engine
- Familiarity with Corepoint interface debugging, engine upgrades, version control, and performance optimization
- Proficiency in HL7 messaging standards such as ADT, ORM, ORU, and DFT
- Experience with networking and file transfer protocols including TCP-IP, VPN, SFTP, FTPS, HTTP/S, and REST/SOAP web services
- Capability to build APIs and integrate external systems using secure authentication methods
- Background in data mapping, transformation, and logic management across source systems, LIS, LIMS, EHR, and HIS platforms
Qualifications
- Ten years of total experience in healthcare IT interface development focusing on HL7 and interface engine technology
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or equivalent practical experience
- Familiarity with electronic health record platforms such as Epic, Cerner, and Meditech
- Previous exposure to on-call support rotations and service level agreement requirements
