The interventional radiologist performs minimally invasive image-guided procedures such as angiography, biopsy and catheter placement, plans treatment with referring physicians, and explains risks and benefits to patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform minimally invasive image-guided procedures, such as angioplasty, stent placement, embolization and biopsies.
- Assess patients before procedures and plan individualized treatment with referring physicians.
- Explain procedures, risks and alternatives to patients and obtain informed consent.
- Monitor patients after procedures, keep accurate procedure records and mentor junior staff.
