In this position, the editor will focus on reviewing and refining learning materials for the Data Center Technician program.
The role involves examining AI-generated Japanese drafts against English source material to deliver accurate, natural lessons, assignments, and quizzes. Professionals will adapt sentence structures and phrasing to suit Japanese learners while ensuring technical accuracy. Content edits are performed directly inside the Codio learning platform. Candidates should be comfortable working independently for ten to fifteen hours each week.
This opportunity is well-suited for translation professionals with strong editorial judgment who can critically evaluate machine-translated text. Optional participation in workflow improvement projects is also available for interested contractors.
Responsibilities
- Check AI-generated Japanese translations against English source documents to fix errors and unnatural phrasing
- Restructure sentences so that instructions are clear and appropriate for Japanese students
- Maintain technical accuracy, learning objectives, and assessment requirements
- Edit lessons and quizzes directly inside the Codio learning platform
- Apply the internal style guide and glossary consistently across all materials
- Consult subject matter experts when encountering ambiguous English source text or complex terminology
- Provide concise feedback on recurring translation challenges to help improve future drafts
- Manage assigned tasks independently and adhere to agreed deadlines
Requirements
- Professional background in English-to-Japanese translation and substantive editing
- Excellent written Japanese skills and strong English reading comprehension
- Capability to explain editorial decisions and adapt phrasing while preserving original meaning
- Experience utilizing style guides, glossaries, and terminology research methods
- Ability to critically assess AI-generated translations and take responsibility for final quality
- Competence in learning and operating within online content platforms such as Codio
- Availability to work remotely and independently for ten to fifteen hours weekly
Qualifications
