Job Description
Flex operates as an AI-driven private bank designed specifically for business owners, restructuring financial operations from the ground up for entrepreneurs. The company is actively hiring its first KYC Analysts to establish and shape a brand new onboarding and compliance function. In this capacity, you will serve as the primary gatekeeper for new account applications while reviewing flagged existing accounts. Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Crimes, you will work closely with the team behind the financial crime program to determine who gains access to the platform.
This role suits individuals with prior experience in know-your-customer processes who thrive in ambiguous environments and want to transition from simply running a process to helping design one. Your initial focus will center on managing the review backlog to maintain smooth onboarding flows, with long-term opportunities to refine procedures, contribute to broader program strategies, and collaborate cross-functionally with risk, operations, and leadership teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end KYC decisions by evaluating new account applications and setting file standards
- Gather documentation and valid explanations for high-risk or moderate-risk applications before onboarding
- Execute KYC and KYB reviews by verifying identity documents and identifying beneficial owners and control persons through public and registry records
- Review flagged accounts post-opening alongside periodic refresh and event-driven reviews to clear, request information, or escalate
- Identify customers requiring enhanced due diligence and escalate them for supervisory review
- Investigate and research entities using public sources, adverse media, sanctions lists, and politically exposed person databases
- Resolve screening hits by separating true matches from false positives with documented reasoning
- Maintain clear case notes and accurate records within the case management system
- Collaborate with support, risk, and operations to resolve documentation requests and support quality assurance reviews
- Identify operational process gaps and assist in developing streamlined procedures and updated workflows
Requirements
- One to three or more years of experience in customer due diligence, onboarding, KYC, or a related financial crimes role within a fintech, financial institution, or payments company
- Familiarity with business onboarding, BaaS program compliance, BSA/AML obligations, and KYC/CDD regulations
- Demonstrated experience researching entities and individuals via public records and screening tools such as Alloy, Sardine, or Unit21
- Strong written communication skills capable of summarizing complex findings and explaining risk decisions in plain language
- High attention to detail and capability to navigate ambiguous or incomplete information
- Ability to manage review queues, handle multiple priorities, and execute tasks efficiently
Qualifications
- Completed or in-progress CAMS certification or another AML certification
