Responsibilities
- Perform routine diagnostic laboratory tests on patient specimens to aid in clinical diagnosis, treatment, and management
- Manage ordering, inventory, storage, and stock control for all laboratory consumables and equipment
- Maintain, calibrate, and arrange servicing for laboratory instruments
- Supervise laboratory personnel and coordinate daily department activities
- Participate in hospital training programs as needed
- Ensure timely release of laboratory test results
- Manage internal and external quality control protocols
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical reports
- Handle laboratory outbreak management and notifiable disease monitoring
- Coordinate the packaging, receipt, and communication of all referral test samples and results
- Supervise nursing staff performing rapid HIV testing for prevention of mother-to-child transmission programs
- Take part in EPA activities and programs
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification
- Pass five Ordinary level subjects, including Mathematics and English
- Possess three to five years of relevant work experience in a similar laboratory setting
- Demonstrate effective communication skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Show the capacity to handle high-pressure situations with minimal supervision
