Jonas Software UK & Europe is looking for a Lead Engineer for Cloud Engineering to join its Jonas Collections and Recovery business unit in Santiago. This is a remote, full-time position requiring a 40-hour work week. The employer operates C&R Software, which builds and manages mission-critical systems for collections and recovery, including the cloud-native SaaS platform Debt Manager hosted on AWS across multiple global regions. The Cloud Engineering division supports operations, product development, quality assurance, sales, and IT teams worldwide.
In this hands-on senior technical leadership role, the individual will design and construct AWS infrastructure and automation, mentor other engineers, manage major platform deliverables, and spearhead the integration of AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices. Current engineering initiatives involve upgrading Amazon EKS, executing the AWS Managed Services Advanced-to-Accelerate migration, setting up multi-region networking and landing zones, and creating AI services using Amazon Bedrock.
Responsibilities
- Design and build Amazon Web Services infrastructure and automation scripts
- Lead the adoption of AI-assisted and agentic engineering methodologies within the team
- Mentor engineers and oversee the delivery of major platform workstreams
- Participate in the AWS Managed Services Advanced-to-Accelerate migration
- Execute Amazon EKS upgrades and configure multi-region networking and landing zones
- Develop AI services utilizing Amazon Bedrock
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of professional background in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering
- At least 2 years of experience leading technical workstreams or other engineers
- Deep hands-on expertise with AWS services including IAM, EC2, VPC, Transit Gateway, ALB/NLB, CloudFront, S3, RDS, ECS/Fargate, EKS, Lambda, Step Functions, Systems Manager, and CloudWatch
- Advanced infrastructure as code capabilities using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Solid proficiency in Kubernetes and Docker
- Competency in Python and Bash scripting
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines as code using tools like Jenkins, Git, Jira, and Confluence
- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Linux environments, observability platforms like Datadog, and incident response procedures
- Understanding of cloud security principles within regulated industries
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Qualifications
- AWS Professional certification as a Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer
- Practical background working with Amazon Bedrock, large language model APIs, agent frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation, or Model Context Protocol
- Familiarity with AWS Control Tower, Organizations, IAM Identity Center, or AWS Managed Services
- Experience working with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server on AWS
- Background in financial services or other regulated business sectors
