Job Description

Coconut Software builds products that help banks and credit unions across North America handle customer booking, line management and remote video service. It is hiring a Lead Product Manager on a contract basis. The role reports to the Chief Product and Engineering Officer and is responsible for company-level product strategy and a data-driven roadmap across the core product suite.

The lead product manager balances existing customer needs against new ones, and weighs features against architecture and operational work. The job includes managing the product roadmap, defining milestones and metrics, writing product epics, and working with engineering on shared objectives so that engineering understands customer requirements and product direction.

The posting also puts weight on AI-enabled products. The person would identify where AI could improve customer and staff experiences and build prototypes to test whether those ideas are useful and trustworthy. As a senior member of the product group, the role includes coaching product owners and improving product management tools and processes.

Candidates should have at least eight years of product management experience, ideally in SaaS or banking, and a technical background in areas such as APIs and integrations. Occasional travel to customers or the head office may be required, possibly as often as once per quarter. The posting describes the role as remote from anywhere in Canada.

  • Mentor product owners and improve the team's product management practices.
  • Help set pricing with attention to development cost and revenue goals.

Requirements

  • Eight or more years of product management experience.
  • Skill at aligning engineering and market-facing groups, including through conflict and change.
  • Technical background such as APIs and integrations, ideally at scaling SaaS companies.
  • Hands-on collaboration with engineers building AI-enabled products, including LLMs, structured data, evaluation, privacy, security and usage costs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including presenting to executives.
  • Proven experience managing several products in parallel as a portfolio.
  • Open to travel to customers or the head office on occasion.

Qualifications

  • Experience in SaaS or banking is a bonus.
  • Understanding of design principles across mobile and web.
  • A record of teaching or mentoring others.
  • Record of shipping products that hit business targets.
