Job Description
Pendo is seeking a remote Lead Product Marketing Manager for Novus, a newly launched product category tailored for application owners and product engineers creating AI-native software. Founded in 2013 by former product managers, Pendo provides tools that help teams comprehend product usage and focus their development efforts. In this zero-to-one position, the marketing lead will spearhead the complete go-to-market strategy, crafting the brand messaging, community engagement, launch events, positioning, and early commercial outcomes.
This role suits an execution-focused professional who enjoys charting undefined paths and leverages AI tools daily to boost efficiency and output. Daily responsibilities include aligning leadership, sales, product, and marketing departments around unified messaging, driving acquisition channels alongside revenue marketing, establishing a community presence on developer forums, and collaborating with growth teams to optimize self-serve onboarding, activation flows, and freemium-to-paid conversion paths.
Pendo operates as an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusive hiring practices and accessibility accommodations. Candidates must be located in the United States for this remote position, with physical offices available in San Francisco, New York, and Raleigh.
Responsibilities
- Own messaging, positioning documents, talk tracks, and category stories for Novus while maintaining alignment across internal stakeholders.
- Build and execute the complete go-to-market plan encompassing audience targeting, channel and campaign strategies, launch moments, and success metrics.
- Partner with revenue marketing to establish acquisition channel mixes, manage campaigns, and connect demand generation to free-to-paid conversions.
- Establish the product presence within developer forums, social channels, influencer networks, and events to cultivate trust among technical audiences.
- Collaborate with product and growth teams to design self-serve onboarding, freemium conversion paths, and activation flows.
- Define the market positioning strategy connecting Novus and Pendo for customers transitioning from AI-native teams into broader product organizations.
- Create sales and partner enablement materials, messaging, and proof points tailored to product engineers.
- Track commercial impact metrics including pipeline growth, marketing-sourced ARR, activation rates, and free-to-paid conversion numbers.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional marketing experience with individual contributor ownership over product or category narrative and positioning.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage and execute a product launch, category story, or repositioning from concept to finish.
- Strong content creation abilities for writing clear narratives, launch assets, and precise positioning materials.
- Active, practical daily fluency with AI applications like Claude or ChatGPT to alter work processes and output.
- High bias to action with a proven history of shipping work, gathering feedback, iterating, and filling operational gaps independently.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts into compelling messaging without oversimplifying the product.
- Demonstrated cross-functional influence across product, sales, marketing, and leadership teams without direct authority.
- Prior experience working with product-led growth motions, encompassing self-serve acquisition, freemium conversion, activation, or community-led distribution.
- Credibility and familiarity with technical builder or developer audiences and how they evaluate tools.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building communities among developers or technical builder audiences.
- Technical fluency gained from writing software or working closely alongside engineers to understand deploy cycles, pull requests, and codebases.
- Background working in product analytics, developer tools, instrumentation, observability, open source, or AI coding tools.
- Growth-hacking experience within an early-stage or zero-to-one product setting.
