Valterra Platinum, formerly known as Anglo-American Platinum, is a publicly listed independent producer of platinum group metals operating in South Africa and Zimbabwe. The company is currently seeking a Learning Officer Mining to join the team at Unki Mines in Shurugwi.
This role suits professionals with a background in underground mining operations who want to focus on technical training, competency assessments, and skills development. The selected candidate will manage learning systems, conduct training audits, and coordinate structured learnership initiatives while upholding safety, health, and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct operational competency training, assessments, and audits
- Implement and supervise operational mining and technical skills development
- Apply workplace skills plans consistent with the operational skills development strategy
- Ensure competency frameworks are technically sound and legally compliant
- Maintain high quality in training materials and delivery through audits and line management feedback
- Provide learning and development recommendations for mining and technical functions
- Maintain safety, health, and environment principles and standards
- Administer relevant learning systems and ensure compliance with legal and company requirements
- Coordinate and implement mining and technical structured learnership initiatives
- Identify risks and threats to the mine or production proactively
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in underground mining operations
- Ability to run mining technical skills training including MBL and FBL training
- Exposure to Mobile Equipment Operation
- Competency in mine HR systems and related legislation
- Competency in learning function systems related to the role
- Computer literacy including SAP Learning
- Clean Class 4 driver’s license
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mining or equivalent
- Holder of a Full Blasting Licence and NEC
