Job Description

micro1 is hiring law students and recent law graduates for a Legal Citation Specialist position. This contractor role invites individuals with law review or journal editing backgrounds to apply their editorial judgment and Bluebook fluency to a new project. Candidates do not need prior artificial intelligence experience to qualify.

The role suits current law students, particularly those in their second or third year, and recent juris doctor graduates who possess hands-on cite-checking experience. Workers will review grading rubrics, identify edge cases, and build sample citation-checking assignments featuring realistic errors and explanations.

Responsibilities

  • Review existing Bluebook and pincite grading rubrics to flag unclear, incomplete, or inconsistent rules
  • Identify unaddressed edge cases and recommend handling procedures
  • Create sample cite-checking tasks combining source material with erroneous citations, correct answers, and rule explanations
  • Build tasks across multiple citation types and difficulty levels ranging from basic formatting to source-support issues
  • Apply Bluebook standards consistently across all submissions
  • Report ambiguous cases to project coordinators instead of resolving them silently
  • Deliver assigned deliverables on schedule and maintain required quality standards

Requirements

  • Current or recent law school enrollment
  • Hands-on Bluebook experience
  • Law journal or law review editing experience

Qualifications

  • Current law student as a 2L or 3L, or a recent JD graduate
  • Prior involvement in law review or law journal cite-checking or source-collection
  • Strong working knowledge of The Bluebook including short forms, signals, parentheticals, and pincites
  • Ability to explain the underlying reasoning for a citation correction
  • Experience working as an articles editor, journal editor, or executive editor

Benefits

  • Pay rate between $50 and $80 per hour
