Job Description
Deliveroo is recruiting a Machine Learning Engineer II for Growth and Personalisation, based in London on a hybrid pattern with three days in the office. The post sits within the global engineering teams and works with the New Verticals group, whose job is to lift monthly active use beyond restaurant orders, into grocery, retail and other categories. The engineer collaborates with colleagues across Deliveroo, DoorDash and Wolt.
The focus is ranking and personalisation. The engineer builds and refines the ranking logic for vertical landing pages, which decide what a shopper sees first on a store page. Other models must weave new-category material into a homepage centred on restaurant orders, without disturbing the core experience. Personalisation models turn existing behaviour into sensible suggestions for categories a user has never tried. The role also feeds into notification targeting, deciding who receives a message, what it says and when it goes out, in order to encourage uptake of the new categories.
Applicants should have at least three years' experience as a machine learning engineer or data scientist, including a track record of writing high-quality production Python and moving models into live use. A preference for simple solutions and a focus on measurable impact are expected. Experience with personalisation, ranking or recommender work is important. Work in causal inference or uplift modelling would be welcome but is not required. The company describes a culture of high standards and continuous learning, and lists competitive salary and equity options.
