Green Fuel seeks a Maintenance Fitter to support its mill mechanical engineering operations. This full-time position involves executing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, scheduled upkeep, equipment repairs, rebuilds, modifications, and new installations. The professional in this role will also respond promptly to plant breakdowns and follow all organizational safety and quality regulations.
The ideal candidate is an apprentice-trained fitter who can troubleshoot machinery problems effectively to minimize downtime. Applicants should be capable of performing tasks based on written standard operating procedures or verbal instructions, completing necessary documentation after each assignment, and conducting risk assessments for every job.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine, preventative, and planned maintenance inspections in assigned areas with complete compliance to standard operating procedures
- Execute repairs, rebuilds, overhauls of major assemblies, and installations for plant machinery and equipment
- Respond immediately to machinery breakdowns, completing tasks within the allotted timeframe and meeting safety standards without the need for redos
- Conduct risk assessments prior to every task to promote safe work practices and a secure environment
- Fill out work order documentation following the completion of assigned tasks
Requirements
- Apprentice-trained Fitter certification or training
- Five years of total experience in the field
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures to decrease downtime
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team
Qualifications
- Two years of experience within the sugar milling industry
- Prior experience working in power plants
