Job Description

Extend is an enterprise providing artificial intelligence-driven post-purchase solutions for merchants, including warranty programs, shipping protection, automated customer service, and fraud detection. Headquartered in San Francisco with over one thousand merchant partners, the enterprise is currently hiring a Manager, Analytics Engineering to oversee a remote team of data and analytics engineers.

In this hands-on leadership position, the professional will report directly to the Senior Engineering Manager of Data Engineering. The successful candidate will own the central data platform, which includes the Snowflake data warehouse, the dbt repository, source ingestion pipelines, and supporting cloud infrastructure. Internal stakeholders across finance, risk, actuarial, product, and fraud analysis depend directly on this platform to build models and report information.

This role is ideal for a data leader with a background in engineering management, advanced SQL modeling, and cloud pipeline architecture. The position requires setting technical standards, establishing robust change control procedures, and guiding platform migrations. The selected individual will collaborate extensively with business stakeholders, automate operational workflows, and ensure the reliability and security of core business data models.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, hire, onboard, mentor, and manage the performance of remote data and analytics engineers
  • Own the dbt repository as a shared enterprise platform, establishing standards for testing, documentation, CI, and pull request reviews
  • Manage the Snowflake data warehouse, data pipelines, source ingestion processes, external tables, and AWS Glue or CDK integration jobs
  • Design and evolve core business data models covering orders, contracts, claims, and service orders for multiple internal departments
  • Drive platform migrations, such as transitioning dbt execution to Snowflake-native tooling while retiring legacy components
  • Establish schema validation protocols to isolate invalid records without disrupting regular pipeline schedules
  • Oversee platform operations including incident response, alerting systems, on-call rotations, and root-cause analysis
  • Provide self-service analytics enablement through documentation, semantic consistency, and business intelligence access
  • Expand automated operational workflows utilizing existing production artificial intelligence tooling for alert triage and file processing

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience managing engineering talent, covering hiring, performance management, and career progression on a data or analytics engineering team
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and dimensional data modeling for consumers with competing needs
  • Extensive experience owning a version-controlled dbt repository with established testing, CI, and code review standards
  • Demonstrated pipeline engineering capability using Python and cloud infrastructure on AWS such as Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, and CDK
  • Proven experience operating an on-call rotation, building alerting systems, and leading incident responses for a data platform
  • Experience partnering with analysts, data scientists, or quantitative teams to translate business questions into reliable data models

Qualifications

  • Background in actuarial, risk, or fraud analytics
  • Experience within warranty, insurance, or service-contract industries
  • Familiarity with financial and revenue reporting
  • Experience handling privacy and deletion compliance at scale
  • Familiarity with business intelligence administration
  • Experience with artificial intelligence-assisted engineering workflows

Benefits
