This hands-on leadership role fits an experienced revenue cycle professional who excels at coaching supervisors, resolving complex billing bottlenecks, and establishing robust operational controls. Candidates will navigate evolving payer guidelines, guide capacity planning, and support organizational expansion. While a base salary range of $100,000 to $130,000 applies along with annual bonus potential and an employee equity purchase program, final compensation depends on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily billing and coding functions across diverse markets, service lines, and payers while supervising billing and coding personnel
- Track submission queues, worklists, claim rejections, and denials to maintain service levels and capacity
- Act as an escalation point for difficult billing, workflow, and payer obstacles
- Collaborate with compliance and revenue integrity on advanced audits, policy interpretations, and investigations
- Mentor and develop supervisors by establishing clear key performance indicators, regular huddles, and individualized feedback
- Supervise workforce planning, hiring, and staff training activities
- Monitor key performance indicators like coding quality, turnaround times, and backlog volume
- Partner with analytics teams to find capacity constraints and implement corrective measures
- Maintain standard operating procedures and workflows to support business growth
Requirements
- Seven or more years of progressive revenue cycle background
- Extensive background in billing and coding operations
- Minimum of three years of direct people management experience, including overseeing frontline supervisors
- Current Certified Professional Coder credential through AAPC or AHIMA
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS coding, and payer compliance rules
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Medical Auditor, Certified Professional Compliance Officer, or Certified Healthcare Financial Professional designation
- Familiarity with Athenahealth or comparable electronic health record practice management systems
- Background working in pediatric, value-based care, or rapid-growth settings
