Job Description
Cargill is hiring a Market Operations Senior Analyst for a remote, full-time exempt role on its Market Operations team. Reporting line: the Senior Manager of Market Analysis. The start date is October 2026, with up to 15 percent travel. Dispatch of battery storage assets in the Key Capture Energy fleet is the focus.
The analyst applies quantitative reasoning, optimization methods and programming to two main goals: hedging strategies that use physical and financial products, and dispatch optimization for battery energy storage systems. Work can include building algorithmic hedging and trading strategies, handling routine power market operations, fixing market problems as they arise in real time, maintaining mathematical models of battery operation and reporting on how trading strategies perform.
The posting describes someone who can take a project from the first idea to a finished deliverable with limited oversight. Typical tasks include developing automated bidding strategies in Python and SQL, supporting bid submission and code debugging, taking on-call duty, improving price forecasts and building Power BI dashboards. The analyst also works with datasets in MS SQL Server and helps the development team build analytics infrastructure.
The role calls for three-plus years in the energy sector or in analytical work, and a bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical discipline, or in a closely related area such as finance or business. The posting also asks for solid knowledge of how energy markets run day to day in several jurisdictions, and programming experience in Python or another mathematical language. Experience at an independent power producer or utility, especially in hedging physical operations, is preferred, and a master's degree is welcome.
