Job Description
Canonical is hiring a Marketing Team Lead to take charge of one of its core marketing tracks and direct both its strategy and its delivery. The post is globally remote, and the holder may be placed across EMEA, APAC or the Americas, wherever the team is based. Canonical describes its marketers as brand builders and demand creators who turn intricate open source technology into messages that shape how the market understands its vision. Work is organised around long buying cycles, mixing stories with data, running experiments and iterating quickly.
The team lead owns the go-to-market approach and campaign delivery in their area, aiming to see campaigns hit, launches work and adoption climb. Joint planning happens across product, sales, content and partner colleagues to produce joined-up plans, refine messages and assets that speak to customers, and run experiments to test their hypotheses. The job covers major launches and growth programmes, reviews and retrospectives that improve results, and mentoring colleagues to raise the bar. The posting accepts generalists who want to own a product line or channel and specialists who can strengthen the whole group in their field.
Candidates should have a strong record in B2B marketing, preferably across software, SaaS or open source, and a history of shaping strategy that drives pipeline. They must communicate well in English, tell technical stories clearly, lead cross-functional groups, and manage budgets with a sharp view of return. Sales-driven or partner-ecosystem growth, account-based marketing, managing agencies or vendors, and coaching junior marketers would all count in your favour.
