Selected candidates will develop HVAC cooling load computations using Carrier HAP, create zoning strategies, and formulate equipment specifications. The position requires coordinating mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection layouts, alongside reviewing submittal documents and answering Requests for Information. Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of building codes, mechanical codes, ASHRAE standards, and NFPA standards to daily tasks
- Use or learn Revit for project execution and design implementation
- Draft detailed HVAC zoning plans along with layouts for equipment, ductwork, and hydronic piping
- Calculate and route ductwork through ceiling cavities and structural models
- Size and route hydronic piping while coordinating with multiple building disciplines
- Select and position air distribution devices
- Formulate equipment specifications and system schedules
- Run HVAC cooling load calculations utilizing Carrier HAP
- Compute ventilation rates adhering to building codes, mechanical codes, and ASHRAE guidelines
- Determine appropriate HVAC equipment sizing based on calculated loads and performance data
- Coordinate mechanical systems alongside other MEP trades and consultants
- Communicate technical details clearly to colleagues
- Examine equipment and system submittals to verify project compliance
- Address Requests for Information efficiently and accurately
- Complete assigned MEP engineering tasks within budget and schedule constraints
Requirements
- Proficiency with Carrier HAP for HVAC cooling load calculations
- Ability to calculate ventilation according to applicable codes and ASHRAE standards
- Capability to perform duct and hydronic piping sizing for HVAC systems
- Skill in selecting and sizing HVAC equipment based on loads and project needs
- Working knowledge of HVAC equipment, systems, and components
- Ability to coordinate mechanical designs with other MEP disciplines and trades
- At least two years of practical experience in HVAC building systems design
