Job Description
This full-time, on-site Okta Identity Engineer role is based in the United States. Candidates must currently live in the Central Time zone. The engineer joins a growing internal IT team and acts as the subject matter expert for identity and access management solutions, designing, implementing and maintaining Okta services. The team focuses on building systems and supporting internal partners, and it works in an agile way.
Much of the job is integration and automation. The engineer connects Okta with cloud and SaaS applications to streamline authentication and authorization, configures single sign-on and multi-factor authentication, and builds automations using Okta Workflows and approved AI-powered tools. Terraform is used for configuration management, so the role also needs infrastructure-as-code habits.
Security oversight is an ongoing duty. The engineer runs regular audits and security assessments against industry standards and best practices, keeps watch on who holds which permissions and how access is actually used, and works to reduce risk. When Okta configurations or integrations fail, the engineer troubleshoots and fixes them. Requirements are gathered from cross-functional teams to deliver identity solutions that meet business needs.
The posting asks for at least five years of IT experience and three years of Okta experience, including user lifecycle work, provisioning and federation, along with working knowledge of SAML 2.0 and OAuth. It notes that interest in process automation, a positive approach in a high-growth setting, and experience with geographically distributed teams would be welcome.
