Canonical, the publisher of the Ubuntu operating system, seeks an OpenStack Engineering Manager to guide the BootStack team. Operating as a distributed company since 2004, Canonical supports enterprise infrastructure initiatives across public cloud, AI, IoT, and data science. In this role, the selected candidate will lead engineers responsible for the daily managed services of private infrastructure and distributed systems for global clients.

Responsibilities
- Manage an expanding engineering team to drive quality and speed in development and operations
- Monitor and evaluate key indicators of team health
- Establish structured operational and engineering processes
- Act as the primary representative for the BootStack team among stakeholders, clients, and external groups
- Direct team focus toward key milestones, priorities, and deliverables
- Fulfill service level agreements for international customer deployments
- Deliver reliable managed services consistently and promptly
Requirements
- Professional background in software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar languages, or experience managing operations teams
- Prior experience working with OpenStack
- Commitment to testing practices and code maintainability
- Linux system administration experience
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Familiarity with agile software development processes
- Experience operating within distributed teams
- Technical comprehension of intricate distributed systems and cloud technologies
- Ability to travel for team gatherings, company events, and client meetings up to 20 percent of the time
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or equivalent education in a technology discipline
- Experience with Ubuntu or Debian administration
