Job Description
This partner-level role sits on the program team at Bellwether, a national nonprofit focused on improving education for students who have the least access to opportunity, so they can build fulfilling lives. The position is remote, and the person can live in any part of the US. It is full-time and exempt, and it reports to the Senior Partner and Head of Emerging Approaches.
Most of the work centers on the Learning Options and Innovation portfolio. That area spans learning beyond conventional public schooling, covering private schools, afterschool programs and other providers, plus new models and approaches. The Partner shapes the portfolio's direction, leads or advises project teams, and manages senior relationships with clients and funders. Developing new business is a significant responsibility, and the Partner is expected to bring in new work independently.
The best fit for this role is someone with deep knowledge of education policy and of the providers and advocates active in this segment. The person should also have a clear history of winning and closing new engagements, not merely supporting them. Travel of roughly 20 to 30 percent may be needed. The posting gives a salary range of USD 213,750 to 228,000 per year.

- Shape the course of the Learning Options and Innovation portfolio, including which questions to tackle and where to deepen expertise
- Lead or guide project teams on policy work, landscape reviews and facilitation
- Oversee senior client and funder ties and keep each engagement on track from start to finish
- Pursue new work by scoping projects, drafting proposals and preparing budgets
- Speak at events, appear in the press and publish articles to represent the organization externally
- Mentor and manage program team members
- Contribute to organization-wide planning, internal projects and recruiting
Requirements
- Dedication to reshaping education so that underserved students can reach meaningful life outcomes
- Expertise in policy areas that shape learning outside conventional public schools, such as school choice, unbundled learning and afterschool programs
- Proven ability to generate revenue and bring in new client or funder work
- Background running senior client projects and uncovering the underlying causes of a client's problems
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence partners across functions
Qualifications
- Understanding of key issues like access, quality, responsiveness to family demand, and how AI and other technologies apply to learning
- Current relationships with prospective funders and customers
- Skill at converting subject knowledge into a persuasive investment argument
- Wide network across philanthropy, government and business
