Job Description
Melita Group provides outsourced HR, benefits and payroll services to smaller and midsize employers in the United States and overseas. Operating for more than three decades, it helps clients with their workforce administration needs.
This full-time, remote Payroll Tax Analyst serves as the company's go-to specialist for payroll taxes. The analyst keeps withholding and unemployment taxes accurate and compliant for every client account, at each level of government. The work includes registering new tax accounts, reconciling tax records against payroll vendors such as ADP, Paylocity and Rippling, handling tax agency notices, and preparing amended filings when needed.
The role also involves researching payroll tax laws, rates and reporting requirements, and guiding colleagues through complicated cases that span several states. The analyst is the point person for taxing agencies and payroll vendors, and keeps tidy, fully documented files on each registration, filing and adjustment. Learning adjacent payroll duties is also expected, so the analyst can help the wider Payroll Services group. Client payroll vendors handle most filing and payment work, and the analyst steps in with agencies when amended returns or extra payments are required.

- Able to work with payroll staff in other countries
