Fortive is hiring a Principal Cloud Architect to serve as the technical authority for the public cloud evolution at Intelex. This position centers on designing reliable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure that supports core software platforms alongside growing artificial intelligence features. The professional in this role will connect infrastructure, platform engineering, and product strategy by collaborating closely with information security, engineering, and data teams to establish engineering standards and execute modernization efforts.
The ideal candidate will shape the overall cloud architecture vision and roadmap, focusing primarily on Amazon Web Services while maintaining awareness of multi-cloud strategies. Responsibilities include building highly available production environments, defining infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform, establishing continuous integration pipelines, and collaborating with information security to uphold strict compliance mandates such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR. Additionally, this architect will build infrastructure tailored to artificial intelligence products, ensuring scalable model serving, data pipelines, and large language model integrations remain production-ready and cost-efficient.

Responsibilities
- Own the cloud architecture vision, standards, and roadmap centered on Amazon Web Services while keeping multi-cloud needs in mind
- Design secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure encompassing networking, security controls, and cost optimization
- Lead cloud migration, modernization, and legacy system re-platforming initiatives
- Architect cloud infrastructure to support artificial intelligence products, including scalable model serving, data pipelines, and large language model integrations
- Establish infrastructure guardrails for responsible deployment, covering data residency, access controls, and audit logging
- Define and enforce Infrastructure-as-Code standards using Terraform, prioritizing reusable modules and continuous integration validation
- Implement observability standards across logs, metrics, and traces using New Relic, CloudWatch, and Azure Monitor
- Partner with information security to enforce least-privilege access and maintain compliance standards like SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR
Requirements
- Minimum of eight years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure, CloudOps, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering roles supporting production software platforms
- At least five years of direct, hands-on Amazon Web Services architecture experience
- Demonstrated expertise in Terraform module design, security policy-as-code, and continuous integration-integrated infrastructure validation
- Strong proficiency using containerization and orchestration technologies including Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, and Docker
- Solid continuous integration and delivery pipeline experience using GitHub Actions
- Fluency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell for automation and operational tooling
- Prior experience architecting for environments that require strict regulatory compliance like SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, and PIPEDA
- Passing result on a criminal background check and public safety verification
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical work experience
- Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Professional certification
- Familiarity with Octopus Deploy or Jenkins continuous delivery tools
- Experience with Azure architecture components such as AKS, Azure Monitor, Azure Active Directory, and Azure SQL
- Hands-on background with data platform infrastructure including Snowflake, Amazon RDS, Aurora, and Redis
- Exposure to machine learning infrastructure encompassing GPU instances, vector databases, and model serving
- Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost governance tools
- Depth in Linux and Unix systems administration, operating system hardening, and network firewalls
