Deliveroo, which is part of DoorDash and collaborates across DoorDash and Wolt, is seeking a Principal Product Designer to join its Ventures team in London on a full-time, on-site basis. The product team creates solutions for millions of users by connecting data, design, and engineering. Ventures acts as an internal incubator within DoorDash, funding small entrepreneurial teams that build adjacent businesses from early concept through test-market launch.
In this role, you will act as the senior design voice for an early-stage product, guiding it from inception to test-market launch while positioning it for global reach. You will define design strategies across multiple products, analyze local market behaviors, partner with leadership on roadmaps, and present updates during business reviews. The position involves designing scalable user journeys, working with legal, finance, and operations to manage regulations, and establishing prototyping standards and AI-assisted workflows. Additionally, you will mentor senior designers and recruit first-line managers.

Responsibilities
- Define the design strategy and vision across multiple Ventures products and sequence team workloads
- Analyze local market dynamics to ensure designs reflect regional user behaviors
- Collaborate with product-area leadership to shape strategic roadmaps and priorities
- Establish success metrics, present weekly updates, and participate in business reviews
- Deliver improvements to customer journeys in competitive markets
- Design scalable frameworks and translate regulatory rules into simple user experiences alongside legal, finance, and operations
- Build design systems, prototyping frameworks, and AI-powered workflows
- Establish critique and planning routines while mentoring senior designers and recruiting talent
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading design initiatives across multiple products with a history of taking more than one product from zero to one
- Track record of identifying opportunities for long-term outcomes supported by high-level craft
- Credibility with senior leadership to connect user research, business objectives, and technical feasibility into a single strategy
- History of coaching designers and managers while recruiting talent
- Experience building scalable tools and standards for multiple teams
