TE Connectivity seeks a Principal R&D/Product Development Engineer to join the Digital Data Networks socket team. In this position, the professional will lead the complete product lifecycle for high-speed, fine-pitch, and large-size sockets, helping drive innovation in markets such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Enterprise and Telecommunications, and the Internet of Things. This role suits an experienced engineer capable of bridging customer needs with advanced technical design. Responsibilities involve steering concept development, handling signal integrity simulations, mentoring engineering team members, and collaborating closely with global stakeholders and customers during early-stage pathfinding. The chosen candidate will shape the technical roadmap for socket products, define industry standards, and support manufacturing and quality assurance teams through product releases.
Responsibilities
- Develop innovative design concepts and conduct feasibility studies for commercial and technical viability
- Collaborate with global Product Design Engineering teams to translate Voice of Customer and Product Requirement Documents into design inputs
- Build simplified 3D models and perform signal integrity simulations using software such as Ansys HFSS
- Build, test, and validate prototype samples through design validation plans and product qualifications
- Lead end-to-end product development for high-speed, fine-pitch, and large-size sockets from concept to production release
- Mentor and train engineering teams in mechanical design principles and signal integrity simulation methodologies using tools like Creo and Ansys HFSS
- Engage in early-stage pathfinding with customers and internal stakeholders to co-develop interconnect solutions
- Provide technical assistance to manufacturing and quality teams for process optimization, DFMEA, testing, and troubleshooting
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechanical design focusing on high-speed interconnect products
- Direct experience in customer design and support, including troubleshooting customer problems alongside Field Application Engineers
- Expert-level knowledge of interconnect design or experience with high-speed connectors adhering to PCIe Gen 6/7 compliance
- High level of competency in mechanical design tools such as Creo or SolidWorks
- Competency in signal integrity analysis tools including Ansys HFSS and Keysight ADS
- Ability to work independently in a global environment with fluency in English for verbal and written communication
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- Master’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- High-speed signal integrity knowledge
- Design experience working with high-speed servers, switches, and memory
- Understanding of semiconductor IC packaging and fundamental test or burn-in methodology
- Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies or a strong background in data analytics
