Job Description

Bitwarden is seeking a Product Designer - End User (Autofill) to shape how millions of people manage sensitive credentials across browsers, desktop software, and mobile platforms. Bitwarden is an identity security provider headquartered in Santa Barbara, California, offering password management, secrets management, and passkey solutions for individuals, families, and enterprise teams globally. In this remote position, the designer will focus heavily on autofill mechanics—determining how the software inputs logins, payment cards, verification codes, and identities while handling complex scenarios like multi-step login flows and unusual forms.

The role requires someone who leverages AI design tools throughout their workflow for research, rapid prototyping, and iteration, while collaborating daily with engineers, product managers, and fellow designers. The selected professional will craft user flows, wireframes, and production-ready designs utilizing the company design system, create prompts for saving and updating credentials, and build intuitive experiences that help users identify phishing risks. Candidates must reside in the United States, preferably within time zones overlapping with the U.S. East Coast, and must submit a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end digital product design work.

Responsibilities

  • Design autofill experiences for individual, Premium, Families, and Business users across browser extensions, desktop apps, and iOS and Android applications.
  • Improve how users input logins, passkeys, verification codes, payment cards, and identity details on websites and mobile applications.
  • Create prompts that ask users to save new credentials or update changed passwords.
  • Solve difficult interaction challenges involving multi-step logins, unusual login forms, and websites where autofill fails to function normally.
  • Operate within browser limitations and native iOS and Android autofill frameworks to maintain consistent cross-platform behavior.
  • Design clear indicators to help users recognize when Bitwarden will or will not autofill to assist in avoiding phishing sites.
  • Produce user flows, prototypes, and production-ready designs utilizing the internal design system.
  • Incorporate AI design tools to facilitate and scale research, ideation, rapid prototyping, and iteration.
  • Partner with product teams to investigate emerging product concepts, including agentic workflows.
  • Participate in user interviews, usability tests, support trends, and design critiques to refine autofill features.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of product design experience or equivalent background.
  • Portfolio showcasing end-to-end design work on digital products.
  • Solid interaction design capabilities including sketching, wireframing, and prototyping.
  • Proficiency in Figma and experience with component-based design systems.
  • Experience utilizing AI design tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, V0, or Figma AI along with effective prompt-writing skills.
  • Front-end development experience or the ability to prototype in code using AI tools.
  • Interest in designing AI features with an awareness of associated trust and usability concerns.
  • Understanding of and passion for cybersecurity, online privacy, and open-source software.
  • Attention to detail concerning frequent, small daily micro-interactions.
  • Capability to design for users possessing diverse technical proficiency levels.
  • Strong communication abilities and a collaborative approach to work.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing autofill, password management, or authentication experiences.
  • Background designing browser extensions.
  • Familiarity with native platform conventions and iOS and Android autofill frameworks.
  • Familiarity with passkeys and the structural layout of website login and checkout forms.
  • Experience designing products centered on cybersecurity, identity, or privacy.
  • Experience designing AI-powered features.
  • Familiarity with Angular component libraries and WCAG accessibility guidelines.

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work remotely with a supportive, global team.
  • Access to personal and professional development through the Bitwarden growth club.
  • Participation in the security and open-source software technology markets.
