Bitwarden, the Santa Barbara-based identity security provider trusted globally by individuals, developers, and enterprises, is looking for a Product Designer for their End User Experience team. In this fully remote position, the designer will shape everyday features like autofill, passkeys, data importing, and vault health reporting across browser extensions, web applications, desktop programs, and mobile apps for iOS and Android.
This role is designed for professionals who have a strong background in cybersecurity and a passion for making complex security concepts accessible and straightforward for both technical and non-technical users. Team members collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and fellow designers while incorporating AI tools into their regular workflow for research, ideation, rapid prototyping, and iteration. Candidates must reside in the United States, with a preference for time zones that align closely with the U.S. East Coast. Responsibilities
- Design interfaces for individual, Premium, Families, and Business users across browser extensions, web apps, desktop tools, and mobile applications
- Enhance critical user pathways such as onboarding, autofill, passkeys, secure sharing, account recovery, and vault health reporting
- Translate technical security ideas into clear actions for users of all skill levels
- Produce user flows, prototypes, and production-ready designs utilizing the Bitwarden design system
- Leverage artificial intelligence design tools to scale research, brainstorming, prototyping, and iterative development
- Partner with product groups to investigate emerging concepts, including agentic workflows
- Assist in conducting user interviews and usability tests to drive design improvements
- Share work during team design critiques and present findings to engineering and product stakeholders
Requirements
- At least two years of product design experience or equivalent background
- Portfolio displaying end-to-end design work on digital products
- Demonstrated interaction design proficiencies including sketching, wireframing, and prototyping
- Expertise in Figma and component-based design systems
- Experience applying AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, V0, or Figma AI with effective prompting skills
- Front-end development background or experience with AI-assisted coding prototypes
- Interest in designing AI features alongside awareness of associated trust and usability challenges
- Commitment to and understanding of cybersecurity, online privacy, and open source principles
- Capacity to design for audiences with diverse technical competencies
- Strong communication abilities and a collaborative approach
- U.S. residency with preferred time zone alignment to the U.S. East Coast
Qualifications
- Background in designing cybersecurity, identity, or privacy products
- Experience building AI-powered features
- Experience creating products for both consumer and enterprise audiences
- Experience designing native iOS and Android apps or browser extensions
- Familiarity with Angular component libraries and WCAG accessibility guidelines
