Job Description
Maze is hiring a full stack Product Engineer to build the customer-facing side of its generative AI and cybersecurity product. The company is a well-funded startup, and this is an early engineering position. The engineer takes features from the interface through the API and database, makes technical calls quickly, and works with a high degree of independence. The role is remote and full-time.
The engineer develops the React application that security teams use every day and owns the REST API behind it, built on a Python and FastAPI backend. Work includes building interface components for complex security workflows, designing clean and fast services, tuning performance from database queries through to front-end rendering, and contributing to architecture discussions. Success is judged by how quickly the team ships, product quality, independent execution and the experience customers have, rather than by process compliance.
The ideal candidate has six or more years building production applications across the front end and back end, with deep TypeScript and React experience and a record of building fast REST APIs. Prior work on B2B SaaS products for business users is expected, along with an instinct for how data access affects speed. The person should handle fast, unclear work, keep a balance between velocity and code quality, and partner with design, product and engineering colleagues.
Helpful extras include Python and FastAPI, Kubernetes or EKS, Temporal, PostgreSQL tuning, LLM integration, TailwindCSS, TanStack libraries, shadcn/ui, Radix UI, infrastructure-as-code and design system work. The posting lists USD 100,000 to 155,000 per year.
