Job Description

BetterHelp and UpLift offer a remote, part-time opportunity for a Psychiatrist Collaborative Physician (MD) working on a 1099 contract basis. UpLift operates a marketplace platform that connects patients with insurance-covered therapists and psychiatric providers, bridging the gap between individuals seeking affordable mental healthcare and providers. This role suits board-certified psychiatrists who want to deliver virtual care while also supervising and collaborating with Nurse Practitioners.

In this capacity, physicians conduct telehealth video consultations, assess and diagnose patients, prescribe medications when clinically appropriate, and coordinate care with a network of therapists. Beyond direct patient care, physicians engage in collaboration activities, which include conducting chart reviews, offering consultation support to Nurse Practitioners, and fulfilling supervision duties in states where formal collaboration agreements are mandatory. Practitioners maintain schedule autonomy for patient appointments while ensuring ongoing responsiveness for collaborative duties.

The position is fully remote and relies on UpLift's telemedicine software. UpLift handles administrative burdens such as credentialing and health plan enrollment. Physicians can stop seeing patients at any time, though collaborative agreements require a 120-day wind-down period. Compensation involves activity-based payments for patient care and collaboration tasks, including a specific rate for completed chart reviews, with exact earnings varying by state regulations.

  • Conduct video consultations and communicate with patients via telemedicine
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients, including prescribing medication when clinically appropriate
  • Provide supervision and oversight to Nurse Practitioners in states requiring collaborative agreements

  • Maintain responsiveness for collaboration duties in accordance with state requirements and company standards
  • Coordinate care with the network of therapists and other providers to ensure high-quality outcomes
  • Provide empathetic, evidence-based care while upholding clinical and service standards
  • Share product and workflow feedback with engineering and operations teams to help improve care delivery

Requirements

  • Board-certified Psychiatrist with active clinical experience
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in one or more priority states: Virginia, Texas, Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina
  • Comfortable prescribing medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by state law
  • Skilled at using online tools and technology to deliver virtual care
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide timely consultation support

Qualifications

  • Multi-state licensure
  • Experience supervising or collaborating with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners
  • Previous telemedicine experience
