Bloomreach is hiring a remote Quality Assurance Engineer II for its Data Pipeline team. The company works remote-first from Central and Eastern Europe, with offices in Bratislava, Brno and Prague available. Bloomreach provides an AI-driven personalization platform used by over 1,400 brands worldwide, among them American Eagle, Sonepar and Pandora.
The Data Pipeline team is backend-focused and takes quality and reliability seriously. It moves customer data into and out of Bloomreach Engagement, handling real-time tracking, imports of millions of rows and exports to Google BigQuery. The services run on Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes and handle tens of thousands of requests each second. The engineer would work alongside a senior quality engineer and join grooming and design sessions from the start of each feature.
The engineer would own full-flow and integration testing, designing outside-in checks from API level to cross-service tests for Data Pipeline services, with a primary focus on imports. Work includes building automated suites in GitLab CI that gate deployments, reading Go and Python pipeline code to locate weak spots, shaping test strategy in design reviews, and turning production incidents into lasting regression tests.
Candidates should be able to write test automation in code, like integration and API checks written in Python, Go or any similar language, and read backend pipeline code well enough to see where a change could cause trouble. Fluent use of AI coding assistants is expected. Earlier backend exposure, ETL testing, and experience with Kafka, Google Cloud Platform or BigQuery are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain outside-in tests covering APIs and integrations for Data Pipeline services, mainly imports
- Create and keep up automated suites inside GitLab CI/CD that block bad releases and surface regressions
- Read Go and Python pipeline code to find gaps and design meaningful test cases
- Help set test approach during backlog refinement and design discussions, covering edge cases and failure modes
- Pair with Data Pipeline QA and developers to spread automation practices
- Convert production incidents into automated regression tests using telemetry and reproduction
Requirements
- Coding skill for automation, such as integration and API tests written in Python, Go or similar
- Able to parse backend pipeline code in Go or Python and spot weak points
- Comfort owning black-box, API and end-to-end automation
- Shift-left mindset: set test types and cases on tickets before coding begins
- Ability to learn and adapt within a large codebase and data domain
- Effective working style in a remote-first environment
- Fluent use of AI coding assistants such as Cursor or Claude Code in daily work
Qualifications
- Prior backend exposure through an internship, role or senior-led testing workflows
- Experience with ETL or data pipeline testing
- Testing background with Kafka, GCP or BigQuery stacks
- Familiarity with Robot Framework, Playwright or API tools such as Postman
