Rubicon Path is seeking a Senior Applications Architect for a remote engagement under job ID RQ08614. In this capacity, the professional will spearhead the architecture and technological strategy for the MLITSD 360 platform ecosystem and its associated sub-projects. The individual will design, recommend, deploy, and govern application architectures encompassing hardware, software, databases, and communication frameworks within complex, distributed cross-platform environments. This position is well-suited for an experienced enterprise technologist with deep expertise in microservices, cloud-native deployments, and containerization platforms such as Tanzu.
Core duties involve formulating application architecture strategies utilizing microservices on the Tanzu platform, estimating cloud costs, and advising on licensing and budget efficiency. The selected architect will collaborate with clients and management to define technical specifications, craft solution options, and deliver required documentation aligned with Ontario Government architecture standards. Furthermore, the expert will oversee complex technical reviews, shape architectural policies, ensure compliance with corporate governance, and provide guidance to various project teams, internal staff, and external contractors. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting system obstacles, facilitating knowledge transfer, supporting project management phases, and participating in architectural domain reviews to guarantee overall consistency and quality.
Responsibilities
- Direct the overall architecture and technology strategy for the MLITSD 360 platform and related sub-projects
- Design, recommend, implement, and manage application architecture spanning hardware, software, databases, and communications
- Build and implement microservice architecture strategies utilizing the Tanzu platform
- Provide financial input on cloud costing, licensing, and budget optimization
- Define application architecture requirements with clients and secure management approvals
- Deliver solution option analysis and architectural artifacts that meet Ontario Government standards
- Conduct deep application architecture reviews and assessments for enterprise initiatives
- Formulate and maintain application architectural policies, standards, and industry best practices
- Advise project teams, management, client clusters, and contractors on application architecture
- Create architectural artifacts required by the OPS Zachman Enterprise framework
- Participate in tool selection, solution implementation, and architectural domain reviews
- Design solutions for component communication and system interoperability
- Resolve technical and system roadblocks alongside business clients and delivery teams
- Assist with IT project management tasks, project plan maintenance, and post-implementation support
- Deliver knowledge transfer to Ministry personnel throughout the assignment
Requirements
- Demonstrated development and implementation experience with public cloud solutions utilizing IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, with a preference for Azure
- Leadership experience in creating and implementing application architectures at a senior level
- Extensive background in microservice architecture utilizing container platforms, specifically Tanzu or Pivotal Cloud Foundry
- Experience with cloud-native technologies and high-sensitivity data architectures such as Azure App Services and RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with at least three platforms, operating systems like Solaris or Windows, databases such as MS SQL, programming languages including Java, C#, or JavaScript, and various communication protocols
- Experience in systems analysis and design within large environments
- Experience using CASE tools like PowerDesigner and Visio
Qualifications
- Facilitation skills for engaging stakeholders across I&IT solutions, security, privacy, and accessibility
- Knowledge of MLITSD application patterns and infrastructure
- Familiarity with structured design, development, and implementation methodologies
- Awareness of emerging technology trends and directions
- Experience designing solutions with mid-tier and mobile platforms, Windows and Linux operating systems, and databases including Azure SQL and PostgreSQL
- Background in programming languages such as .NET, C#, and responsive web extensions including Angular, React, and Node.js
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online and on-premises deployments
- Knowledge of cloud networking design, virtual networks, subnets, peering, web application firewalls, and API management
- Experience working within public sector or large enterprise governance committees like the Ontario Government Architectural Review Board
