Job Description

PermitFlow is an applied AI company that serves construction firms with tools for permitting, licensing, inspections and project closeouts. The company says its platform has supported more than $20 billion in development and that it has raised over $90 million, most recently in a Series B round. This full-time, remote Sales Engineer role supports the Commercial segment.

The engineer acts as a solutions and program partner rather than a seller. The role takes complex permitting work off Account Executives so they can spend time on more sales cycles. It functions as an expanded version of the Pilot Ops function and continues beyond a fixed pilot window, spanning design of solutions, running programs and enabling customers, from the sales cycle through expansion.

Duties include joining AE-led calls as a permitting subject matter expert, mapping commercial permitting workflows, and configuring the platform for multi-scope programs. The engineer runs weekly internal check-ins that keep operations leads, architects and general contractors on schedule, and produces KPI reporting for customers. The role also handles billing and accounting questions, including when invoices get paid and pass-through fees, and onboards and trains third parties and staff across large accounts.

The engineer builds reusable enablement materials, such as playbooks, due-diligence report templates, onboarding lists and lunch-and-learn content. Success is judged by how much non-selling work is lifted from AEs, whether pilots and programs finish on schedule, reduced billing friction and expansion within target accounts. Listed benefits include a competitive salary with meaningful equity, employer-funded basic health, dental and vision coverage for staff, unlimited PTO, paid family leave, a home office stipend and commuter benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the permitting subject matter expert on AE-led sales calls and pilots
  • Chart how commercial permitting currently runs, then set up the platform for programs with several scopes
  • Run weekly program check-ins and flag program-level issues worth the AE's attention
  • Produce regular customer reporting against KPIs
  • Serve as billing and accounting liaison, including invoice reminders and pass-through fees
  • Onboard and train architects, engineers, GCs and job captains across accounts
  • Build reusable enablement assets: playbooks, report templates, onboarding lists and lunch-and-learn sessions
  • Coordinate with Customer Success, Operations, Implementation and Product

Requirements

  • Solid command of how commercial builds get permitted and what pre-construction steps involve
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs and holding teams to deadlines
  • Ability to teach a platform to varied stakeholders and build training content
  • Ability to explain customer problems and platform features to executive audiences
  • Comfort moving between sales, product, operations, implementation and CS teams
  • Builder mindset, with the ability to create structure and processes from scratch
