Job Description
Zayo Group sells high-capacity bandwidth and connectivity to large enterprises, carriers, and organizations in media, technology, finance and healthcare. Its footprint covers roughly 141,000 miles in North America and Europe and includes dark fiber, private networks, light wavelengths, Ethernet and internet circuits. The company is hiring a full-time Senior Account Manager for Federal Civilian to serve US civilian federal departments and agencies. The job is remote but limited to candidates who live in the National Capital Region around Washington, DC.
As an individual contributor, the manager builds strategic relationships and sells metro and national backbone capacity along with custom access, colocation, cloud connectivity, IP transport, dark fiber, wavelengths and Ethernet. Revenue targets are met through disciplined account oversight, prospecting and complicated federal pursuits.
Day to day, the manager writes account plans tied to agency missions, technology roadmaps and budgets, and keeps senior relationships with officials who handle IT, networks, security, purchasing and contracts. Sales happen both directly and through integrators, contract holders, small firms and technology allies. The manager takes federal opportunities from requests for information or proposals through award and handoff, uses federal contract vehicles such as NASA SEWP, GSA MAS, GWACs, BPAs, IDIQs, and task orders, identifies cross-sell and new-customer prospects, leads executive meetings, and keeps CRM records and forecasts accurate.
Applicants need a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and at least ten years managing large or strategic accounts, with substantial selling to federal civilian agencies. Familiarity with federal acquisition, from fiscal-year budgeting and FAR procurement to task orders, is needed, along with sound financial judgment and polished executive communication. Understanding of telecom and digital infrastructure, of civilian-agency trends such as hybrid cloud, Zero Trust and resilience, and of Microsoft Office is expected. Salesforce or a comparable CRM is a plus. The candidate must be able to meet US government suitability and security requirements. The estimated base pay is $90,000 to $110,000 per year.
