BELAY seeks a Senior Accountant to join its remote financial solutions team. This full-time position bridges daily accounting execution with technical expertise and direct client communication, offering financial insight across a dedicated portfolio.
The person in this role will independently manage complex accounting functions, lead month-end closes, analyze financial metrics, and support process improvements. Additionally, this position serves as a technical resource and escalation point for bookkeepers and staff accountants, collaborating closely with accounting managers and controllers.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary escalation point for client questions, issues, and complex transactions
- Deliver financial reporting to help clients understand business performance and key metrics
- Execute month-end revenue entries, clearing account reconciliations, and inventory journal entries
- Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses
- Review work prepared by staff accountants and bookkeepers for accuracy and process adherence
- Coach team members through complex reconciliations and provide constructive feedback
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, efficiency, and automation
Requirements
- Reside in the United States within the Eastern or Central Time Zones
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Have four to eight years of accounting experience, preferably in outsourced or client-service environments
- Demonstrate strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online and related applications
- Maintain a dedicated, distraction-free home office for standard Monday through Friday hours
Qualifications
- Experience supporting or reviewing staff accountants or bookkeepers
- Experience handling inventory, e-commerce, or complex accounting environments
- Experience with financial analysis, key performance indicators, cash flow, and gross margins
- Experience identifying process improvements and implementing accounting efficiencies
