Vay is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its team on a remote basis for a full-time position. The company develops driverless car technology, operating a commercial fleet in Las Vegas and preparing for broader expansion across the United States and Europe.
This role suits an accounting professional looking to help build and scale financial functions during a period of rapid growth. The successful candidate will own multi-entity close cycles, create new processes and internal controls where none currently exist, and leverage automation to streamline financial reporting.

Responsibilities
- Manage month-end close functions including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, consolidations, intercompany accounting, and foreign currency accounting across multiple countries
- Establish new accounting procedures and reconciliations while strengthening existing internal controls, finance systems, audit readiness, and management reporting
- Research and determine accounting treatments for new or complex transactions lacking established precedents
- Maintain clear documentation of operational processes, controls, and accounting positions
- Identify and integrate AI and automation tools to minimize manual month-end tasks
- Collaborate with the FP&A team to reconcile accruals and review monthly budget comparisons against actual results
- Prepare audit deliverables along with state and regulatory tax filings
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting team members on daily close tasks and intricate transactions
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with strong exposure to month-end close and audit preparation
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement close processes and internal controls
- Hands-on experience utilizing AI or automation technologies to streamline financial workflows
- Proficiency with NetSuite or an equivalent ERP system alongside advanced Excel skills
Qualifications
- Background in public accounting or high-growth technology startups
- Experience with IFRS reporting standards, alongside familiarity with US GAAP
- Big 4 accounting firm experience
- Active CPA certification
- Multi-entity accounting and international consolidation experience
- Inventory management background
- Familiarity with VAT and German GAAP (HGB)
