3Cloud is hiring a Senior Architect for Data Platforms & Architecture to spearhead technical strategy and system design across multiple workstreams and teams. This remote position focuses on driving Azure transformation programs, connecting client objectives with scalable data engineering architectures, and shaping modernization initiatives to produce measurable results. The ideal professional will combine deep technical expertise in Microsoft data platforms with strong consulting acumen to guide development teams, support business development, and establish reusable delivery frameworks.
In this capacity, the professional will shape technical direction beyond individual projects by mentoring senior engineers and architects, collaborating with business leaders, and establishing enterprise standards. Responsibilities span leading discovery workshops, designing modern data structures such as data lakes and lakehouses, optimizing system performance, and leveraging AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery. Candidates should possess extensive experience in data engineering, cloud architecture, professional services, and stakeholder communication.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy and architecture for multi-team Azure transformation programs spanning applications, platforms, and data.
- Translate client objectives into scalable designs that match business priorities and technical constraints.
- Collaborate across domains to integrate solutions and establish cohesive end-to-end architectures.
- Provide architectural guidance, design reviews, code evaluations, and reusable guardrails during implementation.
- Apply solid engineering principles including modular design, testability, observability, and clear interfaces.
- Utilize AI-assisted tools to speed up design, coding, testing, and documentation processes.
- Lead discovery sessions and roadmaps to build integrated, testable backlogs with clear dependencies.
- Communicate strategy clearly to technical and executive audiences while building trusted relationships with leaders.
- Establish delivery approaches and working agreements to keep distributed teams aligned.
- Mentor technical leads, senior engineers, and other architects to build design skills and architectural judgment.
- Contribute to business development, client workshops, and strategic pursuits alongside sales leadership.
- Build reusable assets like reference architectures, starter repositories, runbooks, and templates.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience delivering solutions within a primary technical domain.
- 5+ years of experience in solution architecture and leading development or engineering teams across multiple workstreams.
- 8+ years of experience working in data engineering.
- 4+ years of experience architecting data solutions on Microsoft Azure.
- Extensive expertise in Microsoft Azure alongside experience with Databricks and or Fabric.
- Demonstrated ability to design modern data architectures including data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouses, data mesh, and streaming pipelines.
- Proficiency in PySpark, Python, SQL, and associated data engineering frameworks.
- Experience using Azure DevOps for building stories, tasks, pipelines, and ARM templates.
- Familiarity with master data management, APIs, security, compliance, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience optimizing data architectures, queries, and pipelines for cost and performance.
- Experience leading remote and hybrid teams to maintain alignment and delivery quality.
- Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies at scale, covering backlog management and dependency handling.
- Background in professional services or consulting.
