Job Description
Portfolio BI, a company delivering software products like PBI Axiom, PBI Vector, and PBI Stratus to assist alternative asset managers with data challenges in security, governance, analytics, and workflow, is seeking a Senior Azure & Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer. In this full-time position, the successful applicant will serve as the technical owner of the Azure environment, collaborating closely with external engineering and development partners. The role focuses on ensuring that deployed systems adhere to established architectures, maintaining secure and stable operations, and enhancing ownership across monitoring and observability, disaster recovery, and identity and access management.
This opportunity is well-suited for a skilled cloud professional who enjoys operating within an international team and working on innovative technology projects. The position involves overseeing subscriptions, landing zones, networking, databases, compute, and Microsoft 365 tenant configurations, alongside managing disaster recovery protocols and infrastructure automation via Terraform and Azure DevOps. Candidates must be comfortable communicating technical risks and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders while constructively challenging changes proposed by external technology suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Manage Azure subscriptions, landing zones, networking, compute, databases, and Microsoft 365 tenant settings.
- Verify deployed infrastructure against established security and architectural standards.
- Review Entra ID, conditional access, RBAC, PIM, authentication flows, and guest or B2B identities.
- Reconcile permissions and access dependencies across applications, Azure DevOps, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
- Evaluate and enhance disaster recovery protocols, including recovery units, backup systems, and multi-region setups.
- Execute restore and failover exercises while maintaining documentation and runbooks.
- Enhance service-health monitoring utilizing Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL, and Application Insights.
- Troubleshoot production issues spanning infrastructure, applications, APIs, and integrations.
- Maintain Terraform configurations, manage modules and state, and support Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Apply Azure Policy, maintain tagging and naming standards, and oversee platform cost management.
Requirements
- Hands-on background with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platform administration and security.
- Experience across cloud architecture, engineering, and operations in business-critical environments.
- Knowledge of Entra ID, conditional access, Azure RBAC, PIM, and Key Vault.
- Practical understanding of Azure networking, compute, databases, backups, and replication.
- Experience assessing disaster recovery, dependency mapping, RTOs and RPOs, and failover testing.
- Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL, and Application Insights.
- Practical Terraform and Azure DevOps CI/CD experience alongside PowerShell scripting and Azure Policy.
- Technical documentation and runbook development skills.
Qualifications
