Freelance Latin America seeks a Senior Backend Developer to join a remote team on a full-time basis. This role focuses on building, maintaining, and scaling backend applications while handling database architecture, security practices, and system performance. The schedule runs from Monday through Friday between 6:00 am and 2:00 pm EST.
The position suits a detail-oriented professional who excels at resolving complex technical challenges and developing high-performance solutions. Individuals will collaborate with international teams, adhere to established project management processes, and align with client guidelines and key performance indicators.

Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize backend applications utilizing Python, Django, and Django REST Framework
- Design and manage PostgreSQL databases to ensure proper indexing, efficient structures, and query tuning
- Construct and support RESTful APIs for application features and system integrations
- Analyze and enhance overall system efficiency, scalability, and database performance
- Deploy logging and monitoring systems with the ELK Stack consisting of Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana
- Containerize applications and sustain uniform development environments using Docker
- Handle AWS cloud services to support infrastructure and application deployments
- Apply security principles, authentication procedures, and data encryption
- Manage caching and data solutions through Redis
- Diagnose backend problems, locate performance bottlenecks, and execute technical solutions
- Coordinate with technical colleagues to preserve code reliability and performance
Requirements
- Professional background in backend software development with a focus on senior-level competence
- Advanced command of Python and SQL
- Hands-on practice with Django and Django REST Framework
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL including database design, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning
- Familiarity with the ELK Stack for troubleshooting, application logging, and monitoring
- Experience using Docker for containerized applications
- Working familiarity with AWS services and cloud environments
