Job Description
This is a remote senior backend post on the Fintech, Checkout and Promotions team at Salla. The team develops highly available server systems that support payments, the checkout journey, discount campaigns, loyalty programs, price logic and financial services, so resilience and scale carry heavy weight given the transaction volume.
The engineer plans, implements and operates backend services, RESTful interfaces and links to internal platforms, payment gateways and outside vendors. Responsibilities also include taking part in architecture debates and design reviews, observability work, production support and coaching of junior and mid-level developers. The team values people who enjoy hard distributed-computing problems and who apply AI tools to speed up testing, troubleshooting and releases.
Applicants should have six or more years of professional backend work in PHP, Go, Java or C#. Understanding of distributed-computing topics such as consistency, fault tolerance, idempotency, messaging and caching is important. The team also expects tidy, maintainable code, familiarity with SOLID principles, design patterns and domain-driven design, and practical work with MySQL or PostgreSQL. PHP and Laravel experience is welcome but not compulsory.
Responsibilities
- Build and run scalable services that power payments, checkout, promotions, loyalty and pricing
- Plan and evolve REST interfaces and connections to internal platforms, gateways and outside vendors
- Engineer distributed systems that cope with heavy traffic, faults and asynchronous jobs
- Tune performance across services, databases, caches, queues and background workers
- Add monitoring, logging, alerts and tests so services are fit for production
- Contribute to architecture talks, design reviews and RFC documents
- Coach junior and mid-level developers
Requirements
- Six or more years building production back-end systems professionally
- Strong back-end skills in at least one of PHP, Go, Java or C#
- Understanding of consistency, fault tolerance, idempotency, messaging and caching
- Track record designing and operating high-volume, highly available systems
- Comfort applying SOLID ideas and design patterns, plus layered architecture and DDD thinking
- Experience designing REST APIs and integrating with outside platforms and payment providers
- Solid SQL with MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Automated testing, code review and CI/CD know-how
- Willingness to use AI-assisted development tools day to day
Qualifications
- Experience in fintech, payments, checkout, loyalty, pricing or promotions
- Event-driven design and distributed messaging
- Docker, Kubernetes, public cloud and infrastructure-as-code tools
- Observability platforms, tracing and production monitoring
- Microservices or service-oriented design
- A degree in a computing discipline, at bachelor's or master's level, is a plus
