refurbed is searching for a Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/x) to join its engineering team on a remote basis. Operating as Europe's largest and fastest-growing marketplace for refurbished goods, the company aims to simplify sustainable consumer choices across 23 countries while reducing carbon emissions. In this role, you will build and scale backend services that power the marketplace, working within an autonomous cross-functional product squad alongside product managers, designers, and fellow engineers.

Responsibilities
- Design, construct, and maintain core APIs and backend services
- Manage the operations and monitoring of production systems
- Integrate external systems and third-party APIs into the marketplace platform
- Plan and execute the implementation of new platform features and services
- Establish engineering best practices and propose department-wide standards
- Produce comprehensive documentation including flowcharts, code comments, and diagrams
- Mentor junior team members and guide new hires to sustain the engineering culture
- Partner with business stakeholders and product managers to deliver solutions

- Execute occasional backend changes that propagate to frontend applications
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience designing and developing scalable backend services in production
