Ascensus seeks a Senior Cyber Threat Analyst to join its IT Security team on a full-time, remote basis. Operating as a leading independent savings plan technology and service platform provider in America, Ascensus serves nearly 16 million people. In this role, reporting directly to the Chief Information Security Officer, the professional will operate within the Cyber Threat Detection and Response team to maintain and shape a Cyber Threat Intelligence program aligned with industry standards.
This position suits an inquisitive security professional who enjoys investigating suspicious activities, analyzing threat data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including Security Engineering, IT Architecture, Risk, and Legal. Responsibilities span across monitoring multiple cybersecurity solutions, developing standard operating procedures, managing threat detection and response tools, and assisting with incident response and penetration testing.
Candidates must meet specific baseline criteria, including holding at least five years of information security experience and maintaining a dedicated, uninterrupted workspace with an internet speed of 25 Mbps or higher for this virtual remote position. Ascensus is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Responsibilities
- Monitor cybersecurity solutions such as SIEM, EDR, Vulnerability Management, network systems, firewalls, IPS, DLP, and cloud environments for suspicious activity.
- Create and update standard operating procedures and playbooks for 24/7 SOC Tier 1 and Tier 2 operations.
- Oversee and monitor threat detection and response tools including malware, email, and application analysis, network analysis, domain intelligence, indicators of compromise, forensic tools, and sandboxes.
- Track and report key performance indicators for threat intelligence.
- Follow digital forensic procedures and execute IT incident response plans as directed.
- Support penetration testing activities and annual managed service assessments.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in Information Security.
- Demonstrable intermediate knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, network protocols, firewalls, IDS/IPS, email security, endpoint security, network security, operating systems like Windows, Linux, and macOS, threat hunting, malware analysis, threat intelligence, common attacker TTPs, application security, cloud security, and incident response methodologies.
- Maintain an uninterrupted workspace during working hours with a minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps for virtual remote work.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with relevant frameworks, standards, and best practices including NIST CSF, PCI-DSS, CIS CSCs, MITRE ATT&CK, and the Cyber Kill Chain.
