Its Engineering group creates the data platforms, reporting layers and infrastructure that underpin those insights. This full-time remote position for a Senior DevOps Engineer is restricted to residents of Bengaluru, India, and requires working hours that overlap U.S. daytime.
The engineer helps shape the infrastructure, delivery systems and operating routines that let product teams release and run reliable code. The role involves owning Karat's AWS-based SaaS environment and keeping it secure, scalable, dependable, observable and cost-conscious. It also means designing and operating build-and-deploy pipelines, mainly on CircleCI, creating observability through logs, traces, dashboards and useful alerts in Datadog or similar tools, and applying site reliability practice to capacity planning, incident handling and root-cause analysis. Collaboration with application developers to improve their daily workflow, and influence over company-wide technical choices, are both expected.
Applicants need five-plus years in DevOps, site reliability, infrastructure or platform roles, with significant production experience on AWS, which is mandatory. Hands-on experience with CI/CD work on platforms such as GitLab CI or Jenkins is needed, and CircleCI experience is the preferred background. Docker, Linux, networking, security and cloud foundations are expected, as are observability tooling experience, cost management skills and clear English.
Responsibilities
- Own Karat's AWS SaaS footprint, with a focus on security, scale, uptime, visibility and efficient spend
- Build and run CI/CD pipelines with an eye on deployment safety, speed and developer experience
- Create observability, from metrics and logs to traces, dashboards and useful alerts, in Datadog and similar products
- Apply SRE thinking to reliability targets, performance, capacity, incident response and root-cause analysis
- Shape technical decisions and delivery habits across engineering through partnership and clear reasoning
- Improve developer experience by working alongside application engineers
Requirements
- Five or more years in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure or platform engineering
- Real production work on AWS at significant scale
- Experience running CI/CD systems on comparable platforms, with CircleCI the preferred one
- Solid grounding in Docker and container-based environments
- Working command of the Linux stack, networking, security practice and cloud foundations
- Practical SRE know-how across production systems
- Clear English, written and spoken, for technical and non-technical listeners
- Comfort collaborating with distributed teams and U.S.-based colleagues
Qualifications
- Experience with Splunk, Grafana Cloud or Dynatrace, with Datadog preferred
- Skill at building alerts that cut noise and speed response
- Practical cloud cost-optimization experience
