Job Description
CrowdStrike is a global cybersecurity company founded in 2011 that operates an advanced AI-native platform to stop breaches, processing nearly three trillion daily events. The organization is seeking a Senior Director for AI Security Systems to build and lead a multidisciplinary team translating laboratory research into practical security tools deployed on the Falcon sensor and across cloud infrastructure. This leadership role oversees engineering managers, principal engineers, and research scientists working on frontier models, autonomous agents, and large-scale streaming detection platforms.
The successful candidate will set multi-year technical strategies, define success metrics, allocate compute and personnel resources, and establish operational models for moving research into general availability. Responsibilities include delivering resource-constrained AI onto endpoints while maintaining sensor performance, scaling GPU inference and streaming platforms, and building evaluation benchmarks to guard against prompt injection, evasion, and model poisoning. This position interacts closely with executive leadership, threat intelligence, and product management teams, while also representing the company externally.
This full-time opportunity carries a salary range of USD 235,000 to 355,000 per year. It suits experienced engineering leaders with a strong background in machine learning systems, security engineering, and large-scale distributed architectures who want to shape the future of autonomous cyber defense.
Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and scale a multi-team organization consisting of engineering managers, principal engineers, and research scientists.
- Define the multi-year technical strategy, roadmap, OKRs, and investment allocations for the Cybersecurity Superintelligence Lab's AI security systems.
- Lead initiatives that deploy intelligence onto the Falcon sensor while adhering to strict memory, latency, and power budgets.
- Oversee streaming detection, GPU-efficient inference, and agent platforms operating over trillions of daily events at cloud scale.
- Drive the delivery of autonomous, closed-loop agentic systems that investigate, hunt, write detections, and execute remediation.
- Establish operational workflows that transfer lab research into the Falcon platform with clear handoffs and shared infrastructure.
- Create evaluation practices, benchmarks, and cyber ranges to measure security efficacy, latency, reliability, and evasion resistance.
- Partner with internal teams including product management, threat intelligence, and executive leadership to align technical and business strategies.
- Represent the employer externally through publications, talks, and collaborations with academic institutions and frontier AI labs.
Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive industry experience in software engineering, machine learning, or security engineering
- 8+ years of experience managing engineering or applied research teams
- 4+ years of experience leading managers across multiple teams
- Track record of leading the architecture, delivery, and operation of production AI or ML systems for security at cloud scale or on endpoints
- Working command of large language models, agentic architectures, post-training methods, inference optimization, and evaluation
- Significant experience in detection and response, threat hunting, malware analysis, vulnerability research, or security automation
- Experience leading teams that build distributed systems, high-throughput data infrastructure, and GPU inference stacks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Leadership experience at a cybersecurity company covering endpoint, cloud, identity, SIEM, or threat intelligence
- Leadership or technical experience at a frontier AI lab in pre-training, post-training, reinforcement learning, inference, evaluation, or safety
- Experience with adversarial machine learning, red teaming, autonomous cyber reasoning systems, or AI-driven offensive security
- Experience leading extensible AI or agentic platforms that scale developer workflows
- Experience standing up and scaling a new research group, lab, or engineering organization
- Recognized technical contributions such as conference publications, patents, influential open-source projects, or conference talks
