HackerOne is seeking a Senior Director, Community to lead global programs for its security researcher network. The organization specializes in continuous threat exposure management, uniting agentic artificial intelligence with an extensive researcher community to assist enterprises in uncovering and addressing vulnerabilities across cloud, code, and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
In this position, the individual will shape a multi-year strategy encompassing researcher success, broader community initiatives, and the live hacking events product line. Reporting directly to the Chief Customer Officer, this leadership role has full commercial responsibility for the profitability of live hacking events, alongside managing technical execution, professional services delivery, and customer expansion goals.
This role operates remotely, though candidates are expected to reside within approximately 50 miles of Boston, Massachusetts; Seattle, Washington; San Francisco, California; Austin, Texas; or Washington, D.C. Collaboration occurs through a flexible work framework intended to balance home-based execution with occasional in-person connection.
The role suits an experienced leader who can partner cross-functionally across product, revenue, marketing, security, and executive leadership. Ideal candidates bring a strong background in combining technical delivery, customer management, and community ecosystem stewardship while leveraging data-driven decision-making and artificial intelligence workflows to scale operations effectively.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute a multi-year strategy for the global security researcher community aligned with business goals.
- Manage the product strategy, roadmap, and P&L performance for the live hacking events suite.
- Oversee end-to-end technical delivery and professional services management for live hacking engagements.
- Handle customer segmentation and senior relationships across enterprise accounts.
- Drive researcher acquisition, development, and retention strategies to satisfy customer demand.
- Integrate artificial intelligence into community operations, enablement, and program delivery.
- Direct the Hacker Success and Community Events organizations while mentoring team leaders.
- Establish community health metrics, lifecycle analytics, and utilization frameworks using data.
- Partner with product, marketing, security, and revenue teams to align community insights with company priorities.
- Ensure accountability for community growth, event profitability, and delivery quality.
Requirements
- Possess at least 12 years of professional experience spanning security or bug bounty, professional services, client management, or community leadership.
- Demonstrate leadership experience managing managers and senior individual contributors.
- Bring direct domain knowledge in security, bug bounty, or client management sufficient to lead technical delivery.
- Have prior experience owning a product line, service line, or P&L with responsibility for growth and profitability.
- Show a history of managing complex customer delivery across global enterprise accounts.
- Demonstrate experience building growth strategies that produce measurable business impact.
Qualifications
- Experience leading security, developer, open-source, technical, or marketplace communities.
- Background in running live event operations or high-touch professional services delivery at scale.
- Experience implementing artificial intelligence workflows, automation, and engagement programs.
- Background working in high-growth software-as-a-service, cybersecurity, platform, or marketplace environments.
- Experience partnering with executive leadership to shape corporate strategy.
