The platform is seeking a Senior Director, Data Science to direct a multi-team organization collaborating closely with product, engineering, and business units.
This remote position involves establishing the strategic direction and operational frameworks for consumer data science. The incoming leader will steer improvements across ranking, retrieval, search, recommendations, and feed systems while prioritizing metrics integrity, experimentation, causal inference, and machine learning.
Ideal candidates possess extensive data science expertise and a strong background in leading multi-pillar organizations within community-driven or user-generated content ecosystems. The role requires balancing technical acumen for architecture and analytical investments with executive influence to align stakeholders on complex, multi-year initiatives.
In addition to competitive base compensation ranging from $317,000 to $443,800 USD, eligible U.S.-based employees receive restricted stock units, medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, and flexible time off including parental leave.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with executive partners across product, engineering, and business functions to shape strategic company priorities.
- Formulate the data science vision for search, recommendations, retrieval, ranking, and feed systems.
- Develop testing and measurement frameworks including offline assessment, online experimentation, and guardrail metrics.
- Translate complex community behavior patterns into clear insights to inform product strategy.
- Define lasting standards for privacy, reproducible research, causal inference, and responsible artificial intelligence.
- Manage multi-team roadmaps and operating rhythms to ensure reliable execution.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain exceptional directors, managers, and senior individual contributors.
- Represent the organization internally and externally as a thought leader focused on methodological rigor.
Requirements
- Demonstrated data science leadership experience in causal inference, machine learning, experimentation, measurement, and data platforms.
- Background working within user-generated content or community-driven ecosystems.
- Track record of directing multi-team or multi-pillar organizations and driving measurable business results.
- Experience aligning product, engineering, and business executives on complex tradeoffs.
