As a Senior Engineering Manager for the Tenant team, the successful candidate will lead the delivery, infrastructure, tooling, and operations behind Honeycomb Private Cloud, which allows clients to run dedicated instances within their own cloud environments.
This position requires collaborating closely with Field Engineering, Support, and Sales departments to navigate proof of concepts, security reviews, and procurement processes. The role involves cross-functional engineering coordination to maintain alignment between SaaS and Private Cloud offerings while integrating developer feedback loops. Furthermore, the manager will guide, scale, and mentor a senior, highly technical team.

Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery, underlying infrastructure, operational procedures, and tooling for Honeycomb Private Cloud
- Collaborate with Sales, Support, and Field Engineering on security evaluations, proof of concepts, and contract discussions
- Coordinate engineering efforts across departments to align Private Cloud and SaaS infrastructure
- Incorporate Private-Cloud-derived tooling back into SaaS systems to enhance overall product development
- Hire, mentor, onboard, and scale a senior engineering team while removing operational single points of failure
- Participate in customer-facing enterprise discussions regarding procurement, access frameworks, and security questionnaires
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of experience working as an engineering manager overseeing a senior and highly technical team
- Demonstrated history of serving as an individual contributor engineer and influencing teams without formal authority
- Prior management or leadership of a team responsible for a live production on-call rotation
- Experience shipping and maintaining software within single-tenant, managed, on-premises, or private cloud environments
- Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes sufficient for design evaluations and incident reviews
- Capacity to prioritize tasks effectively within a compact team handling a broad product scope
Qualifications
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and observability concepts
- Previous experience writing code or contributing hands-on to technical reviews
- Background utilizing Go, Kafka, Terraform, and large-scale data infrastructure
- Compliance experience within regulated sectors, FedRAMP, or GovCloud
- History in a field-adjacent function such as deployment engineering, consulting, or solutions architecture
