This remote, full-time role functions as a bridge between project budget analysis and general ledger accounting. The professional chosen for this role will support operational project teams with financial activities related to clinical trials while assisting with month-end close cycle tasks and general ledger functions.

Key duties involve preparing monthly invoicing worksheets for revenue recognition and client invoicing, reviewing work orders and change orders against actual activities, and conducting Earned Value Analyses alongside project managers. Additionally, the role provides support to the Executive Director of Operational Finance and the Company Accountant regarding contract documents, financial reporting, and workflow improvements.
Responsibilities
- Assist project teams with all financial areas related to executing clinical trials
- Prepare monthly invoicing worksheets to drive client invoicing and revenue recognition
- Conduct variance analysis comparing forecasted and actual revenue to spot gaps and scope changes
- Review work orders and change order budgets against actual project activities
- Perform monthly Earned Value Analyses alongside Project Directors and Project Managers
- Join monthly project review meetings when needed
- Aid the Executive Director of Operational Finance in preparing statements of work and change orders
- Collaborate with the Company Accountant on financial reporting, general ledger duties, and period closes
- Ensure timely reporting of monthly financial information
- Respond to inquiries from the CFO and Executive Director of Operational Finance regarding financial results and ad hoc project analyses
- Help develop and implement new procedures and features to enhance internal controls and workflow
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
- Minimum of 5 years of general ledger and financial reporting experience
- Working knowledge of the accounting cycle, project budgets, financial project management support, Earned Value Analysis, and contract review
- Availability to undertake occasional domestic and international travel including overnight stays
- Legal authorization to work in the country of employment without employer sponsorship
Qualifications
- MBA degree
- Certified Public Accountant designation for North America or equivalent local qualification
- Contract Research Organization (CRO) industry experience
- Experience with QuickBooks
