Job Description
Role overview. Grafana Labs is recruiting a full-time Senior Full Stack Engineer for the Cloud Integrations team within Grafana Cloud Observability. The job is remote, for candidates in the United States and Canada only, working on EST time. The team builds the integrations that let customers gather, chart and respond to telemetry from many systems and applications.
Work and stack. The engineer builds tooling for the integrations portfolio and the observability apps, which shapes the out-of-the-box Grafana Cloud experience. The stack includes TypeScript and React on the frontend, Go on the backend, and Jsonnet for monitoring mixins. The work builds on open source projects such as Prometheus and OpenTelemetry, and the team contributes upstream to those projects and to Grafana Alloy.
Scope. A typical week might involve a React panel, a Go service or a Jsonnet mixin. The engineer ships features from the user interface through the backend and into the dashboards and alerts that come with each integration. The role also means owning projects from the initial problem to production, speaking with users to confirm results, writing design proposals and demos, and taking part in on-call for the services the engineer owns.
Who it suits. The posting looks for an engineer with a product mindset who starts from the user problem, has experience on both backend and frontend, and uses coding agents and LLM tools with judgment. Working knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana dashboards and alerting is expected, along with strong written communication, since most decisions happen in documents, issues and pull requests across time zones.
Responsibilities
- Deliver features across the whole path, from the user interface through backend services to the dashboards and alerts bundled with each integration
- Move between frontend React, backend Go and Jsonnet mixins as the work requires
- Own projects from the initial problem to production, including talking with users and checking results
- Write design proposals, present demos and argue for the roadmap in cross-team discussions
- Submit changes to the Prometheus, OpenTelemetry and Grafana Alloy projects wherever the team's work overlaps
- Take a turn on the on-call schedule for the services the engineer owns
Requirements
- Enjoys moving across the stack, with a product-focused outlook
- Experience on both backend and frontend, with comfort in TypeScript and Go or comparable languages
- Fluency with AI-assisted development and a clear view of where coding agents help and where they do not
- Willingness to raise concerns early and make team work visible across the organization
- Practical knowledge of observability tooling, including Prometheus, Grafana dashboards and alerting
- Strong written communication for a remote, asynchronous team
Qualifications
- Experience contributing to or looking after open-source projects
- Experience with developer tools that many people rely on
- Experience creating Grafana plugins, apps or dashboards
- Knowledge of Grafana Alloy, the OTel Collector or comparable pipeline software
- Experience writing Jsonnet or a comparable config-as-code language
- Experience on call for systems you instrument
