1Password is seeking a Senior IT Engineer for its Identity and Access Management team. The company develops enterprise password managers and Unified Access Management platforms, serving over 180,000 businesses globally. This remote opportunity is open to candidates located within Canada and the United States.
In this role, the selected candidate will guide identity and access projects, enhance the Okta environment, and expand the use of Infrastructure as Code and artificial intelligence-enabled workflows across the IT organization. Duties include managing Okta configuration and policies, automating onboarding and offboarding, designing application integrations using SAML, OIDC, and SCIM, and joining an on-call rotation. The work requires collaborating closely with Security, IT, and Device Infrastructure teams to ensure robust audit readiness and compliance support.
This position is suited for technical professionals experienced in IT engineering, systems administration, and Identity Provider management. Responsibilities
- Manage and improve Okta configurations, policies, lifecycle procedures, and complex identity matters
- Direct identity and access management projects from conception through implementation
- Develop safeguards to render identity changes safer to deploy and simpler to audit
- Create durable application integrations utilizing SAML, OIDC, SCIM, and custom APIs
- Streamline access requests and worker lifecycle workflows
- Collaborate with IT, Security, and Device Infrastructure teams for rollouts and risk management
- Take part in the on-call rotation and provide guidance on identity and access topics
Requirements
- Extensive experience in a technical IT position, such as IT engineering or systems administration
- Demonstrated experience administering Okta or an equivalent Identity Provider in a production setting
- Working knowledge of identity protocols including SAML, OIDC, and SCIM
- Capability to build integrations and automations via REST APIs and scripting languages like Python and Bash
- Experience using infrastructure or configuration as code with Git-based workflows
- Background applying AI to improve team workflows while managing project timelines, risks, and stakeholder communication
Qualifications
- Experience managing an Identity Provider using Terraform
- Familiarity with 1Password Enterprise and Device Trust
- Background supporting SOC 2, SOX, or ISO 27001 audits
